Paste a link to a Notion page, database or block and get the ID the API expects, with or without dashes. Nothing you paste leaves your browser, and this page never asks for your API key.

  1. 1Page: the last 32 characters, right after the page title. Copy the link with Share → Copy link.
  2. 2Database: the 32 characters before ?v=. The part after ?v= is the view you had open, not the database.
  3. 3Block: the 32 characters after #. Copy it from the block’s ⋮⋮ menu with Copy link to block.

The API takes an ID with or without dashes. With dashes it is grouped 8-4-4-4-12: 1429989fe8ac4effbc8f57f56486db54 becomes 1429989f-e8ac-4eff-bc8f-57f56486db54.

Inline or linked database? An inline database lives inside a page, so the address bar shows the page’s ID: open the database as a full page first. If the view menu offers Open source database, you’re looking at a linked view. The API can’t read linked databases, so use the source database’s link.

Need the data source ID?

Since Notion API version 2025-09-03, a database holds one or more data sources, and querying rows or creating pages takes the data source ID. No link contains it. Copy it in Notion from the database menu with Manage data sources → Copy data source ID, or retrieve the database with your key and read its data_sources list:

bash
curl https://api.notion.com/v1/databases/248104cd477e80fdb757e945d38000bd \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notion-Version: 2026-03-11"

No link at hand? Turn on Developer Mode in Notion’s settings. A bar at the bottom of the window then shows the ID of the page, block, database or data source you’re viewing, and right-clicking a block or database opens a Developer section with its IDs. It works in the browser and the desktop app, not on mobile.

Still need the key itself? Read how to get a Notion API key: which token to create, how to share pages with it, rate limits and the fixes for 401 and 404 errors.

FAQ

Is it safe to paste a private Notion link here?

Yes. The link is read by code running in your browser and is not sent to IVGraph or anyone else. A link also doesn’t open a private page by itself: Notion still checks permissions when someone follows it.

What’s the difference between a database ID and a view ID?

A database link carries both: the database ID before ?v= and the ID of the view you had open after it. Requests about the database need the first one. A view ID only works with Notion’s view endpoints.

The ID is right, so why does the API say object_not_found?

Usually the page or database isn’t shared with your connection. Open it in Notion, click •••, find Connections and add yours; access then covers its child pages too. Personal access tokens skip this step: they see what you see.

Does it work with notion.site and notion.com links?

Yes. Links from notion.so, notion.com, app.notion.com and public notion.site pages work, and so do bare IDs with or without dashes. Paste several links, one per line, to convert them at once.

Collecting IDs to map your workspace?

IVGraph draws every page, mention and database relation as an interactive 3D graph. No API key: you sign in with Notion. Free up to 500 nodes.
